The descent, especially in Thunderhawks was always interesting. While reasonable in space, the hawk had all the greater design characteristics and maneuverability of a blocky anvil. Its gunners would take the best aim they could. While the linked bolters would generally make infantry duck, but the rocking craft, jittering from turbulence, made for a poor firing platform like this.
On the Kill Cruiser, the bridge had been pretty much cleaned out but for the burn husks of orks. Scouts were sent in to take control of navigation. Meanwhile the terminators had isolated access to controlled rooms within the ship at certain choke points, occasionally the com-link rang out with laughter as the marines took amusement at the futility of ork counter-attacks.
